After enjoying the Monday holiday off, the Freshmen in Room G17 will have a week of odds-n-ends learning activities meant to conclude our work with with “The Most Dangerous Game” and begin our work on Lord of the Flies. On Tuesday, students will learn about our weekly article of the week assignments, specifically discussing how to annotate thoroughly and with purpose. Wednesday, students will receive their “The Most Dangerous Game” paragraph responses back with feedback. Based on specifically highlighted targets, students will make revisions in class to this paragraph. Thursday is School Picture Day: students take their pictures during Language Arts class and will spend the rest of the period reading for readers workshop and conference with me about their books. We’ll conclude the week on Friday with a survival activity for which students will bring forth their leadership skills and creativity.
Parents, how can you help?
- Ask your child about the article of the week expectations. If you notice any confusion, encourage them to ask me for additional support.
- Take a look at your child’s “The Most Dangerous Game” paragraph response grade. Ask your child to explain the grade to you, and encourage students to seek clarification from me if they are unsure about any feedback.
