The juniors in Room G17 will begin the week with a characterization assessment based on their reading of Chapters 1 and 2. Students will be able to use their books as they write two paragraph-length responses for which they will analyze characters. We will then discuss Chapter 2 and begin reading Chapter 3.
Students will spend a few days this week learning about the historical context of The Great Gatsby. One day, students will take guided notes on the historical events and social and political movements of the day. The next day, students will explore images from the time period, and compose creative writing pieces based on the pictures.
Parents, how can you help?
- Continue to check in with your child about his or her reading of The Great Gatsby. Students will be responsible for reading the majority of Chapter 3 on their own time.
