This week, students will conclude their reading of To Kill a Mockingbird. After engaging in small group discussions Friday, they will take an assessment on Chapters 12-21 on Monday. This assessment will be open-book, and all questions will be short answer questions that require students to use evidence to support their analysis of the text. Students will have their first test in front of them while testing to ensure they learned from previous mistakes. At the end of the week, students will have a graded group discussion on the conclusion of the book, and they will compose questions throughout the week in preparation for the discussion.
Students will continue practicing skills from quarter one with continued lessons on tone and creative writing.
Parents how can you help?
- Cheer your child on as he/she concludes their first high school novel. This endeavor was a new experience for many, and I was impressed by your children’s ability to step up to the demands of high school.
